Education that
earns attention,
not just compliance.
Octologic Health builds education tools grounded in research — starting with the premise that if learners aren't retaining, the content design is the problem, not the people. Every tool begins with proven principles of adult learning, typography, and cognitive science built into the foundation, so educators spend less time on presentation and more time on what they know best.
Built from inside the problem.
We were founded by educators who spent years watching the same cycle play out: compliance deadlines, mandatory modules, staff clicking through slides to get to the quiz at the end. Education treated as a checkbox — and outcomes that reflected it.
The research on what actually changes practice has been clear for decades. Adult learners need relevance, retrieval practice, spaced repetition, and meaningful feedback. What they get instead is usually a forty-slide PDF with a five-question test at the end.
We built this platform to close that gap — not with another blank-canvas tool that asks educators to become graphic designers, but with one where the research is already in the foundation. Everything starts with good, tested standards so educators don't have to fine-tune their way to something professional. The principles apply anywhere adults need to learn and retain.
Our approach to education design
Every tool we build is grounded in principles that the research consistently supports.
Opinionated by design
Typography, layout, spacing, cognitive load, and accessibility all start from researched, tested standards. The foundation is strong before authoring begins — so educators can put out great work without having to fine-tune every detail along the way.
Engagement is not optional
Attention is the prerequisite for learning. We design for the realities of busy professionals — short windows, high cognitive load, competing priorities. Content that does not earn attention does not teach.
Retrieval over repetition
Re-reading doesn't build memory. Testing does. Every learning experience we build includes meaningful retrieval practice — not just for compliance verification, but because it's what actually moves information into long-term memory.
AI assists, you decide
Our AI can suggest structure, flag readability issues, recommend interactions, and draft starter content from your objectives and reference materials. The educator remains the subject matter expert — AI output is a starting point you review, edit, and approve before it reaches a learner.
Measure what matters
Completion rates are not learning outcomes. We measure the indicators that reflect real transfer: confidence shifts, decision-making under pressure, and behavioral change in practice.
Our content guidelines,
open to everyone.
We've distilled the research behind our platform into a set of evidence-based content guidelines — covering engagement, typography, readability, scenario design, and more. These are the principles we build on. They're available to anyone who wants to apply them.
No login required. No sales pitch. Just the framework we use.
The team
A small team with deep education and technology expertise — focused on building tools that work in the real world.
Rusty Peterson
Educator and platform architect with a background in workforce development. Built the platform out of a decade of frustration with the gap between what education could be and what it usually is.
Charlotte Jones
Practitioner with deep experience on both sides of the equation — frontline work and staff education. Those years in the field inform everything we build.
